When shopping for yogurt look at the labels that state have live active cultures aka probiotics on the label. Probiotics are made of live good bacteria and or yeasts that naturally found in your body. Probiotics are good bacteria that is shown to help keep the body healthy and working as the body should. Probiotics occur naturally in the body. Bacteria usually brings up negative thoughts and emotions that bacteria causes illness, but there are good beneficial bacteria as well. In everyone's bodies, there are good and bad bacteria.

Let's go over the difference between probiotics and live active cultures in simple terms. All probiotics are live active cultures which are microorganisms used to ferment food and drink. Here is the difference, not all live active cultures are probiotics. The function of probiotics are to help keep the body healthy and balanced bacteria wise.

Lactobacillus Acidophilus
Lactobacillus Acidophilus is the most commonly used live active culture in yogurt which will be shown on the label. L.A. for short is also found in fermented foods such as pickles, sauerkraut, and supplements to name a few of these fermented foods. There are a lot of health benefits cited from science that L. Acidophilus is healthy to consume.
There are many different strains of live active cultures aka probiotics. Each strain is known by scientists to have different health benefits.
Bifidobacterium bifidum
Bifidobacterium bifidum bacteria lives in the intestines. This probiotic has been shown to help with diarrhea, constipation, and other intestinal issues.
Saccharomyces boulardii
Saccharomyces boulardii is used to make breads, beer, and wine. Also found in Kombucha and Kefir drinks. Saccharomyces boulardii is another popular probiotic that is a type of yeast that helps with relieving symptoms of diarrhea and other more severe gastrointestinal issues and diseases.
Streptococcus thermophilus
Streptococcus thermophilus is commonly found in yogurt and cheese. Used to stabilize other probiotic bacteria that normally don't grow well in milk.
There is a vast amount of information and scientific studies that show there is a major benefit of consuming yogurt to keep and improve your health. As with anything, consume in moderation.
