I got an impromptu invite to attend a cookie decorating class held at a ladies fashion boutique in Bonham TX. I decided to go and I had an interesting time testing my skills at cookie decoration. No true artistic skills needed, but I believe it helps.
The cookies were already baked into cute designs of hearts, circles, and squares.
We did a wet on wet process of decorating our cookies which is basically we did not let the first layer of icing dry first. The craft of cookie décor is to allow the icing to dry before adding more decorations using different colors of icing. The drying process can take up to several hours. Who knew cookie decoration is time intensive not only for the decorations done by frosting, but the time needed to dry between the art work.
This event was hosted by Rebel Roots Boutique and taught by an expert cookie chef Tonya Horton.
I have made many cookies, but never had I tried to decorate a cookie. I'm definitely not artistic, but I tried. A lot of ladies made some beautiful cookies. I thought I would share a few photos. Great presentation and they even had some snacks and beverages.
When we were done, we got to take our cookies home in a cute box which is the main picture above.
